Ridgewood Guest House

General Assembly was hired to design a guest house in the rear yard of an existing house in Queens. The clients are a young couple with two young children. The site is incredibly small, and so is the budget. GA came up with four options for the clients and then further developed one option for bid.   The client chose to proceed with option A.  The main living space opens straight out as an extension to the kitchen in the main house. In a later phase, the yard in between the structures will be remodeled to create a transitional living space. The sleeping area is nestled directly behind the large tree on the property. Skylights above the space allow the owners to gaze up to into the canopy of the willow tree.
